SUMMARY:All About Oysters | Science on the Bayshore
DESCRIPTION:Learn all about a keystone species in the Delaware Bay: the oyster! Participants will learn about the importance of the oyster in the Delaware Bay\, explore its life cycle\, and will even get to observe its anatomy in a live dissection! We will then do an activity called “shell bagging”\, in which we create oyster habitat that will be used to restore oyster beds in the Bay. \nJoin us on Thursdays and Saturdays for Science on the Bayshore at the Bayshore Center at Bivalve! During these workshops\, we will be teaching bite-sized\, hands-on\, fun lessons about the Bayshore. \n\nRegistration is easy! Just enter the names of each person in your group here!\nFree! There is no cost to you!\nHands-on\nAll ages welcome\, but lessons are best suited for ages 8+\nAll materials will be disinfected before and after each lesson\nWorkshops occur rain or shine and are outdoors\, so please dress appropriately!\nAttend 6 or more workshops to earn your Junior Bayshore Biologist certificate!

SUMMARY:Watersheds | Science on the Bayshore
DESCRIPTION:How do our actions impact the environment? How does pollution travel such large distances? What can we do to help? During this presentation\, we will be exploring these topics by demonstrating different types of pollution\, what they do\, and how they get into the watershed. Then\, we will discuss different ways that individuals can make choices to impact the environment in a positive way. \nJoin us on Thursdays and Saturdays for Science on the Bayshore at the Bayshore Center at Bivalve! SUMMARY:What's in Your Water? | Science on the Bayshore
DESCRIPTION:Water is all around us. It’s in our homes\, in the air\, and in our streams\, rivers\, and oceans. What makes water “clean” or dirty”? In this workshop\, we will explore some of the chemical properties of our water\, including temperature\, turbidity\, pH\, nitrate\, phosphate\, and oxygen. Participants will learn how we test these parameters\, and will get to try their hand at conducting these tests on water from the river! \nJoin us on Thursdays and Saturdays for Science on the Bayshore at the Bayshore Center at Bivalve!
